Thursday nights is like church for me. Its the one time a week I can let loose and get my faith in humanity. Being in a small county town in Alabama, there isn't much to do, especially for people like me. A boyfriend of an old high school friend of mine mentioned a local gay bar that has live performances. Being so sick and tired of the same old frat collage bars, I decided to check it out. First thoughts was fear. I've never been to a gay bar. Wasn't sure if I wanted to start that day. But Im so glad I did. As I was getting hit on by a gorgeous Latino, A friendly smile greeted me at the bar. He asked me what I was drinking to tonight. I replyed "myself". He smiled and handed me my drink. Months later I became a familiar face. Slowly but surly making friends. Even after the new location change, I was there.
I was mostly familiar with all the drag queens but one stood out for me. Manly because this little lady was representing for the short people. But the way this queen shook the floor, you would believe she was 6 feet tall. I was getting my life with every death drops. Killing me softly with her talent. I've asked my friend who she was, he said "Dani California, she use to be a bartender at the old location". Piecing things together, I remembered where I seen her/him before. The bartender who gave me my first drink.
After the show I introduced myself to her and we instantly clicked. Not only is Dani California talented beyond belief. But she has the sweetest soul that I have ever came across.
I see big things for her. And waiting patiently for our next collaboration. Who knows, maybe a little tag team on the dance floor should be in the works?
This is her life, this is her story.
